On August 6, 2003, Dave and Dawn Lind while vacationing in Rhode Island stopped by our church to use the phone. I had never met these folks before, but this was indeed a blessing in disguise! As they quizzed me regarding my purpose in life, my initial response was one of annoyance. I had never seen these folks before and did they really care what my purpose in life was? Furthermore, how could I ever condense my life purpose in the time allotted us? They explained that they could help me articulate my purpose in 15 words or less! And they were right. During the next three hours we established a positive rapport and openness for dialogue. The end result was that Dave and Dawn helped me to think through and identify the following statement which describes my purpose in life: “Serve as a change agent setting vision and removing barriers so ministry leaders can affect ministry with excellence.” When this was done, I even invited them to my home for supper that same evening to celebrate my birthday with my family. Meeting the Linds was not accidental and I am grateful that they cared about my purpose in life.
